A new Impression
The first big changelog for the new Impression: lead magnets, DMs, outreach, content ideas, repurposing, analytics, scheduling, and faster LinkedIn workflows.
Oh, it's been a rough, rocky start.
We changed names from Typeway to Impression. We had a few beta users. We had a lot of very direct feedback, a lot of feature requests, a lot of half-working ideas, and a lot of rebuilding the product around what people actually needed from a LinkedIn tool.
But now, finally, I think we have built something absolutely incredible, and I cannot wait to show it to you.
Impression is no longer just a place to write posts. It is becoming a proper LinkedIn operating system for founders, creators, small teams, and B2B marketers who care about the full loop: ideas, writing, scheduling, engagement, DMs, lead magnets, follow-up, analytics, and pipeline.
Here is what is new.
Lead magnets, Auto DMs, and comment replies
This is one of the biggest changes.
You can now run LinkedIn lead magnets from inside Impression. The flow is simple: publish a post, ask people to comment with a keyword, and Impression can send them the promised DM.
That means a post can now do more than get likes. It can start real conversations.
Auto DMs help you:
- Send a direct message to people who comment with the keyword you choose.
- Deliver the lead magnet, link, resource, call invite, or next step.
- Reply to the comment so people know the DM was sent.
- Keep the comment thread active, which can help the post earn more reach.
- Turn public engagement into private conversations and follow-up.
For a business, that matters because comments, DMs, replies, and qualified leads are not separate things. They are all part of the same funnel.
More comments can help a post get more impressions. More impressions can bring more of the right people into the conversation. More DMs create more chances to book calls, send resources, qualify leads, and build pipeline.
This is the kind of workflow I wanted Impression to make much faster without making it feel like spam.
Engagement into qualified pipeline
Impression now treats engagement as the start of a sales workflow, not the end of a content workflow.
If someone likes, comments on, or repeatedly engages with your posts, that is useful signal. It can tell you who is paying attention, who cares about the topic, and who might be worth following up with.
The new engagement and pipeline workflow helps you spot those people and move them into the next step:
- Review reactions and comments from your posts.
- Identify warm prospects and repeat engagers.
- DM people directly from Impression.
- Organize people into lists.
- Move qualified leads toward follow-up.
- Keep track of where the attention came from.
This is especially useful for B2B founders, agencies, consultants, coaches, and personal brands where the content is not just "brand awareness". The content is how people discover the offer.
Conversations is now built for fast outreach
The Conversations tab is now much closer to what I always wanted: a focused LinkedIn follow-up inbox.
You can browse synced conversations, open full threads, reply, generate drafts when you want help, organize people into lists, archive conversations, snooze conversations, open profiles, and open recent posts for context.
The big thing here is speed.
Most LinkedIn follow-up is slow because you are clicking through tabs, losing context, and trying to remember who is worth replying to. Impression makes this faster with a proper workflow and keyboard shortcuts.
The shortcuts currently include:
J / K: move up and down.Enter: open the selected thread./: search the workspace.X: toggle selection.E: archive or return to inbox.H: snooze or set a reminder.L: open labels.I: open the LinkedIn profile.P: open recent posts.Cmd/Ctrl + A: select all visible rows.
Those sound small, but they matter a lot when you are doing outreach every day. You can triage faster, research faster, label leads faster, and keep momentum while sending DMs.
The goal is not to automate every relationship. The goal is to remove the repetitive clicking so you can spend more time on the actual conversation.
Hijack leads from post URL
This one is for finding prospects from conversations that are already happening.
If someone in your market posts something that gets hundreds or thousands of comments from your ideal customer profile, you can add that post URL to Impression and use it as a lead source.
From there, you can review commenters, find people who match your target audience, and take action with context:
- Send a connection request.
- Leave a useful comment.
- Send a DM.
- Add people to outreach lists.
- Use the post and comment context to understand why they might care.
This is useful because the best leads are often already showing intent in public. They are commenting on the problem, the category, the frustration, the tool, the role, or the goal.
Impression helps you turn that public signal into targeted outreach.
Better ideas from your actual business
Impression now does a much better job helping you find content ideas from the things that matter to your business.
That includes:
- Your past posts.
- Your saved LinkedIn posts.
- Your brand context.
- Your synced docs.
- Your offers, positioning, customer language, and notes.
- Current LinkedIn demand and inspiration.
The new idea workflow is meant to keep your content pipeline full without making every post feel generic.
You can swipe through personalized ideas, save the ones that make sense, and draft from them when you are ready. You can also use the mobile app to capture ideas when they show up in real life: after calls, while walking, on the train, or whenever you hear a customer phrase that should become a post.
Brain dump to ready ideas
There is now a better path for messy ideas.
You do not need to arrive with a polished post. You can drop in rough thoughts, links, videos, voice notes, or half-formed angles, and Impression can help turn them into cleaner idea cards.
This matters because most good content does not start as clean content. It starts as a note, a frustration, a customer question, a sales call moment, or something you noticed but did not have time to shape.
Impression helps turn that raw material into something you can actually draft from.
Hook and CTA suggestions
Hooks and CTAs are where a lot of LinkedIn posts win or lose.
The hook decides whether someone stops scrolling. The CTA decides what happens next.
Impression can now help with both:
- Stronger opening lines.
- Better first sentences.
- CTAs for replies.
- CTAs for DMs.
- CTAs for downloads, calls, follows, links, or next steps.
This is not about making every post sound the same. It is about giving you better options at the exact point where small wording changes can affect views, comments, DMs, and conversions.
Multiple drafts from one idea
One idea can now become multiple draft versions.
That means you can compare different hooks, angles, structures, tones, and CTAs before you publish. Instead of settling for the first decent version, you can choose the post most likely to get comments, views, DMs, or clicks.
This is especially useful when the idea is good but the angle is not obvious yet.
Reading grade and clearer writing
Impression now helps you clean up posts before publishing.
Focus Mode can flag hard sentences, passive voice, weak qualifiers, and readability problems. The point is simple: clearer writing keeps more people reading.
On LinkedIn, clarity matters. If the post is hard to read, people leave. If people leave, you lose comments, dwell time, and potential conversions.
Repurposing and cross-posting
Your best ideas should get more than one chance.
Impression now makes it easier to turn one strong idea into different formats:
- LinkedIn posts.
- X posts.
- X threads.
- LinkedIn carousels.
You can also use old posts, saved posts, and content that already performed as input for fresh versions.
The goal is not to copy yourself endlessly. The goal is to take a strong idea and adapt it to the format where it has the best chance to perform.
Saved posts now feed the system
Saved LinkedIn posts are usually a graveyard.
You save something useful, then never find it again.
Impression can now turn saved posts into a more useful inspiration library. That means you can use saved examples for:
- Hooks.
- Formats.
- Objections.
- Audience language.
- Content angles.
- Repurposing ideas.
- Outreach or lead research.
The point is to make your swipe file actually usable.
Instant sync from Notion and Google Drive
You can connect Notion or Google Drive and use your real business material as content context.
That might include:
- Call notes.
- Sales docs.
- Customer research.
- Offers.
- PDFs.
- Transcripts.
- Positioning notes.
- Internal docs.
This helps Impression write from your actual source material instead of generic internet slop.
Your customer language, proof points, and positioning become available when you are generating ideas or drafting posts.
Daily inspiration and keyword search
The inspiration workflow is now more useful for market research.
You can search by keyword, topic, audience, platform, or saved-post context, then use what you find for positioning, hooks, formats, and proof.
That helps answer a very practical marketing question:
What are people already paying attention to?
From there, you can create content that meets demand instead of guessing in a vacuum.
Queue, calendar, and consistency
Impression now has a stronger planning layer.
You can define posting slots, use queue and calendar views, and keep upcoming content organized. This is especially useful if you are trying to build a repeatable content rhythm instead of posting only when panic strikes.
Consistency matters because trust compounds. More consistent posting means more impressions over time, more chances to start conversations, and more opportunities for the right people to see what you do.
Scheduled LinkedIn publishing
Scheduling is not just a calendar placeholder anymore.
Impression can use the Chrome extension to claim queued LinkedIn publish jobs, open the browser-side composer, publish the post, and report the result back to the app.
That means scheduled content is closer to actual publishing, not just a reminder to go do it yourself later.
Auto Plug
Auto Plug helps you promote an offer without putting the CTA directly in the main post.
You can add a CTA as a comment after a delay or after the post gets traction, then remove it later. This is useful because posts with external links or heavy sales asks can perform worse if the main post feels too promotional too early.
So the post can earn attention first, and the offer can appear as a next step for people who are interested.
Analytics unified
Analytics are now more connected to the business outcome.
Impression helps you look at profile growth, impressions, engagement, audience quality, comments, reactions, and industry signals in one place.
The important question is not only "did this post perform?"
It is also:
- Who engaged?
- Are they the right people?
- Which topics create replies and DMs?
- Which posts lead to better conversations?
- What should we double down on next?
That is the difference between vanity metrics and useful content intelligence.
Teams, spaces, and multiple accounts
Impression is also getting better for people who are not running one solo account.
That includes founders with multiple brands, agencies managing clients, teams collaborating on content, or people managing both a personal brand and a company account.
Spaces, roles, brand context, schedules, drafts, and accounts are designed to stay separated so the wrong voice, strategy, or lead list does not leak into the wrong place.
Imports, long-form content, and future workflows
There are also early pieces for bigger workflows:
- Importing past posts from Taplio and Hypefury.
- Turning YouTube videos, emails, blogs, and longer content into social posts.
- API and n8n workflows for connecting Impression to the rest of your stack.
- File uploads for turning PDFs, CSVs, notes, markdown, images, and other docs into usable content context.
Some of these are still being expanded, but the direction is clear: Impression should be the place where content, context, publishing, engagement, and follow-up connect.
The bigger idea
The reason I am excited about this release is that Impression is finally becoming the thing I wanted Typeway to become.
Not a writing toy.
Not another generic AI post generator.
Not a place where you paste a prompt, get five bland posts, and then still have to do all the real work somewhere else.
Impression is becoming a workflow for the full LinkedIn growth loop:
- Find ideas.
- Write better posts.
- Schedule and publish consistently.
- Get more engagement.
- Turn comments and reactions into DMs.
- Follow up with the right people.
- Learn what is working.
- Feed that back into the next post.
That is what I mean by a new Impression.
There is still a lot to improve. There always is. But this finally feels like the foundation for something much bigger: a product that helps people turn content into attention, attention into conversations, and conversations into real business.
